Who Is The Last Ronin?

The miniseries ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin’ had recently concluded its run of five issues, with Michelangelo being thrown into a dark future by the end of it. In the comic version, Michelangelo watched Master Splinter and his brothers die in the war against ‘Foot Clan’, which led him to adopt the role of the last Ronin. He then teams up with April O’Neil and Casey Joens Junior to take a final stand against ‘Foot Clan’ – to avenge his family.

Leonardo’s Brave Sacrifice

Before their world fell apart, the TMNT thought that they would have a chance at taking down the Foot Clan when the opportunity arose. While it is so that Donatello and Splinter had traveled to Japan to attend a meeting with their enemies, the others had stayed behind – making them vulnerable. Later on, they got attacked by none other than the army of Baxter Stockman consisting of cyber ninja soldiers – and also the Mousers.

The goal of this attack was for Stockman to get the robotic technology/body of Professor Honeycutt – who remained a staunch ally of all the Ninja Turtles. Sadly this is what resulted in one of the very first deaths of the ‘Last Ronins’.

Raphael’s Reckless Response

Raphael is famous for his hot temper and attitude and this is what led to his death ultimately. When Karai had sent her assassins of Foot Clan against the Ninja Turtles, Splinter was left almost on the verge of death. To this situation, Raphael responded quickly but recklessly – as he decided to take on Karai alone.

In a blind rage, he charged through the subways and sewers, cutting down on all of the sent assassins along the way until coming face to face with the woman who was responsible for harming his master.

Raphael did hold off well and it was only when Karai joined the fight that he perished – but only after putting his sworn opponent into a lifelong coma.

Splinter and Donatello’s Grave Fates

After they make their way to Japan to attend a supposed peace summit with the Foot Clan in TMNT the Last Ronin movie and comic, both Donatella and Splinter are confronted by Oroku Hiroto and his army. The two of them fought mercilessly against their enemies but ultimately succumbed to the fight.

This was the last initial death that took place in the series of Ninja Turtles, which gave rise to the Last Ronin TMNT.

Michelangelo: The Only Survivor And Last Ronin

In a desolate and bleak future of The Last Ronin, Michelangelo was deemed to be the last Ninja Turtle standing, and of course this made him the Last Ronin. The portrayal of Turtle made him out to be an unexpected survivor in the alternate Dark timeline.

After having discovered what happened to both Splinter and Donatello in Japan, the last of the survivor Michelangelo, seemingly succumbed to feelings of depression and loneliness.

Even though he had a desire for his own life to end after losing his family and brothers, he mutated further into his old age and made the elder Hero in Half Shell more powerful. Eventually, he also had to struck out on his own to put an end to the threat of the Foot Clan.

Towards the end, it is shown that he died a hero, after finally enacting vengeance against the Foot Clan and the grandson of Shredder.
